Furniture Fit-Out: How to Choose the Right Furniture for Your Cleanroom

When designing your ISO cleanroom, selecting the right furniture is crucial for optimising workflow and maintaining standards. While each process has unique requirements, here’s a lineup of key essentials we recommend ensuring your cleanroom is functional, efficient, and compliant:

Choosing the Right Cleanroom Furniture

Tables & Work Benches: The Cornerstone of Cleanroom Operations

A sturdy workbench is essential in any cleanroom. Our versatile tables come in various sizes to fit seamlessly into your space. Optional single or double undershelves provide efficient storage solutions, and tables on castors ensure mobility and easy cleaning.

Chairs & Seating: Comfort Meets Precision

For tasks requiring precision and operator comfort, seating is a must. Our extensive range includes:

·         Low to high-back chairs.

·         Standard-height chairs to high stools with foot rings.

Each chair is ergonomically designed with adjustable features, allowing operators to customise their seating quickly and efficiently, saving time while enhancing productivity

Cleanroom Trolleys: Mobility & Versatility Combined

Trolleys are a fantastic addition to cleanrooms where transporting items is critical. These multi-functional units double as shelving when not in use and come in customisable sizes and undershelf configurations. Their mobility supports dynamic workflows and optimises space utilisation.

Racking & Shelving: Organise with Ease

Our static racking systems provide robust storage solutions, tailored to your specific needs. Available in Trespa or stainless steel, they’re not only durable but also exceptionally easy to clean and maintain, making them ideal for sterile environments.

Step Over Benches: Seamlessly Transition Between Areas

A step-over bench is essential for separating clean and dirty zones within a cleanroom environment. This practical solution allows operators to switch to cleanroom clogs while storing dirty footwear, reinforcing protocols and ensuring hygiene compliance.

Cleanroom Mirrors: PPE Compliance Made Easy

Install a mirror in your gowning area to help operators verify their PPE is correctly donned. Particularly useful when other team members are unavailable to assist, mirrors play a vital role in ensuring compliance with cleanroom protocols.

Dispensers: Streamline Organisation in Change Areas

Keep PPE organised and easily accessible with our universal dispensers. Suitable for gloves, hair nets, coveralls, beard snoods, overshoes, and more, these dispensers enhance efficiency while keeping your gowning area tidy and compliant.

Material Considerations for GMP Cleanrooms

For GMP-grade cleanrooms, stainless steel is our top material recommendation due to its reliability and performance in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene. We offer three key options: 304 grade, 316 grade, and electro-polished stainless steel. Each has unique benefits, making them ideal for various cleanroom applications.

Benefits of Stainless-Steel

Stainless steel’s resistance to corrosion, smooth surface, and low porosity ensure that contaminants cannot accumulate or compromise the environment. Importantly, stainless steel doesn’t release particles, which helps maintain the cleanroom’s stringent environmental operating conditions. While other materials may be used in cleanrooms, they must meet the same stringent standards. If these materials cannot offer the same level of performance as stainless steel, they pose a higher risk of contamination.

304 Grade Stainless-Steel

304 stainless-steel is one of the most popular steel types, known for its strength and excellent resistance to corrosion. It’s suitable for environments where materials need to withstand exposure to food, chemicals, or water. Additionally, 304 stainless steel is highly adaptable for machining and welding, which makes it a great option for producing parts that require precision.

316 Grade Stainless-Steel

While 316 stainless-steel shares many characteristics with 304, it contains an additional 2-3% molybdenum. This added element significantly boosts its resistance to corrosion, particularly in environments exposed to chlorides, such as salt-heavy food processing areas. If required, any of our standard products can also be manufactured using 316 stainless steel to meet specific needs.

Electropolished Stainless-Steel

Electropolishing is a finishing technique that removes a thin layer from the surface of stainless steel to create an ultra-smooth finish. This process minimises surface imperfections where bacteria and contaminants can build up, making it easier to clean and sanitise equipment. Electropolishing also enhances corrosion resistance by removing surface impurities, making the disinfection process faster, more effective, and more cost-efficient in the long term
